Kuwait's cats

Dad decided to take us out for ice-cream early in the morning. I set my alarm to wake up at 10 am in which Dana and i were ready by 10;45 but he decided to go get a hair cut first. I thought that was a tad rude and a little frustrating. After an hour has passed, he returned and we left and headed to Kuwait's gulf. My older sis didn't join because the dermatologist cut her off of a list of things that include preservatives, dairy products and chocolate for a period of five days, so that they may figure out whats wrong with my sisters skin and why she has over active antibodies.
Back to ice cream!
Since my sisters and i are boycotting McDonald's dads sundae suggestion flew off the window. My sister asked if we can go to Hard Rock Café to eat the Delicious giant brownie sundae they have. We ended up all sharing it! It was mouth watering as usual. My destructive event today wasn't that bad as i merely stained my sister's boyfriend jeans.
We walked along side the sea and Dana and i started counting the street...err..beach cats? I counted 42! Some look infested with diseases, others look extremely clean and well groomed.
Just chillin cat

Yeah, Kuwait is weird like that...

When we were driving in the car  dad informed me that his mom old him that his sister is coming over to her house. In other words: my aunt might drop by tomorrow. I asked dad if auntie W had called mom to inform her that shes coming to our house tomorrow and his reply was that untie never learns!
I should've said something to that...i should've told him to call his sister and tell her to call mom! People cant just drop by or know you're coming through several people. I wanted to remind him of the several fights this has initiated and to remind him of moms severe discomfort to knowing things in the last minute. ...but i didn't...
He also told me that he was thinking of eating dinner outside today in which i reminded him of my older sisters chicken leftovers. I know she'd be upset if we don't finish it. He told me we'll eat lunch at 2 and dinner when mom comes home, which is around 6:30 he also told me he wanted to go to the gym. When mom came home, he picked himself up and went to the gym. I should've said something when hey were both in the room. I should've brought up the subject of aunt W's arrival...but i didn't..
Instead, i followed mom to the kitchen where she has her usual smoke and asked her if we're going out to see if dad had told her what he had told me earlier. She barked at me that if she knew we wanted to go out she wouldn't have come upstairs to the apartment. I tried explaining that i was merely checking. I also told her that dad told me that grandma told him that aunt W told her she might be dropping by tomorrow.
I should've waited for my introvert mom to finish her smoke of solitude first...but i didn't...
She was enraged but kept it in.  when she was done with the smoke she talked to my older sister and my anxious impulsive sister kept pushing her to call dad. She threatened that if mom didn't pick up the phone she will. Mom grew angry from that sentence and scolded her for trying to pressure her. You see, dad has several things he did not fix around the house. One of them is the broken door of the made up tiny attic in the hallway. After mom and my older sister talked some of the problems through, my little sister joined in with " don't talk about dad when hes not here!" That only made mom angrier because it made her look like the bad guy. Dana was simply too young to understand that mom has been building up or quite some time and that she is being pushed to the edge.
Mom ended up sending him a text saying that if he doesn't get it fixed, shes not accepting anyone over. Which she didn't want to do...what mom wanted to do was make plans for tomorrow to get an excuse to not be there when aunt decides to drop by. You see, its mighty rude of her to come over just because shes dropping by at her mothers. It wouldn't be rude if she just called in advance though. Last week she did the same thing, she said shes dropping by at night since her husband has plans for dinner. Thankfully, we were out shopping then.
I don't know why people like to make problems out of nothing. I know for sure i wont be accepting anyone in my house without a notice first. I absolutely hate it when unexpected things happen, those are what stress me out. That's why i always try to expect the worse  scenarios, so that my head wont go blank when they happen, and so that I'll be happy when they don't.
However, after going back in the kitchen where mom was smoking again, i started laughing. Its quite typical of me after all, i shouldn't have opened my mouth and told mom that aunt was coming...but i did...

Food and ice skating

Finally finally met up with nor today! I took my two sisters with me. We went ice skating at first and my older sister and I don't know how to skate. Well, let's just say that was fun. I only fell four times and we took pictures and had fun since it was a Sunday and working day in Arabic countries there wasn't many people skating. In fact we were the only ones in the small rink. After an hour or so nor drove us to avenues so we can eat at the cheese cake factory. This time I shared a meal with Dana so that I can room for dessert! The appetiser which was a Vietnamese spring roll or didn't really taste that good, and I found the teryaki chicken to be quite average, but I did like the tuxedo chocolate cheesecake I ordered. It was superb, however my little sister did not favor it.

The tuxedo chocolate mousse cheesecake

Oh, by the way, I gained another kilo in this country. I'm gonna turn into a tub of lard! I keep saying ill lose weight I'll lose weight, but guess what? That never happens, if anything, I only gain wait. I'm almost 56 kilos now.....aughjdneiuhibbihb
Oh well.

By the way yesterday dad suggested we eat breakfast at ikea and i loved the idea and so i woke the family up early to go. I got yelled at a few times for waking them up. They're not morning people. After much idling we finally went there with dads awesome aggressive driving. When we reached there the menu consisted of mostly fried things such as nuggets, hot dogs, fries, or not things that weren't worth it like fried eggs and sandwiches. I was disappointed and my mom commented on the food so i suggested we leave and she agreed and told dad. Dad said okay and he cut out of the line and left me and Dana in the line with the food carts. I was baffled and embarrassed to be honest. I didn't think he would easily ditch us like this. So us girls waited until we can return the cars then we went downstairs where my dad was waiting and left the store. My mom totally ignored my sitting dad and when he followed us she barked at him to not speak to her because his behavior so far today was not acceptable. He turned himself around and said he'll wait in the car. We just followed our mom like the Little ducklings i feel we are. Mom asked us where we want to eat if we even wanted to and somehow we found ourselves in Paul.
The menu was in french. It was a dejavu of 7th grade french class so weird. They translated some things but not all. Two of us ordered omelets and the other two ordered poached eggs. Mom texted dad to join us if he wanted to and he told her to enjoy because hes shopping. Typical, really. He throws a tantrum, ditches us, ruins our mood, then thinks his male ego will lead us around. Bleh!
Anyways the food was ....okay...totally not worth the prices. Cora's breakfast in Canada tastes so much better that there is no comparison!
We went shopping at pottery barn afterwards in which i decided i wanted a house by the age if thirty. I want extra rooms, a sun room with glass windows and ceiling, and i want a living room and a guest room. I want that instead of tiny crappy expensive apartments. I hope i can become a doctor so that i can afford a house someday. Or at least a huge apartment like my great aunt's or my grandparents from moms side, may they rest in peace.
After shopping, we went home and we were invited over for lunch at grandma's house. She made msakhan, a Palestinian winter dish that is commonly made in jafa.

It's made of flat or Iranian bread that is drenched and cooked in olive oil then soaked in chicken broth. A layer of diced onions and certain sour spices coats each layer of the stacked bread and this is served with roasted chicken on the side. A hand eaten meal, think of it as a Palestinian pizza! Of course instead of it being soaked and drenched, today people only brush some oil and sauce on it so we wont black out after we eat it.
I ate a bit and went home, then mom told me to go downstairs because my dad's aunt have rolled up yummy dawali aka wara enab (letterly grape leaves) and they tasted soooo gooood. These are actually commonly eaten cold as appetizers. I was not able to maintain myself and scarfed down at least 5!

The dawali she got for us.
mom got us sweets at night and i ate some of that too. God....no wonder i gained weight! I haven't had any of these food in months or even years!

Peace,
M.D.

couscous

we were Invited for lunch over At my dad's aunt. She made couscous with chicken but she made it spicy so i couldnt enjoy  it that well.
Dads cousin has a persian kitty and it was so adorbs. She named her sushi! She put her in my lap and she started purring then ran off after dana walked into the room.
We then went out to hamra mall where we window shopped at all these brand stores such as gucci and Well i dont remember what else.
The area smelled of h2s though which smells foul. I  then told dad im hungry because i didnt eat well at lunch. It's usually rude to ask for more and noone offered me more so...bleh
I told dad i wanted shawarma!! And so he drove us to te nearest shawarma place and i ordered two. Yummy...but Now im hungry again.
My 2nd uncle and aunt called to come over today. We excused ourselves because we want to spend time with parents not with hospitality. they also didnt give us much time notice, i mean dropping at night doesnt give us time to prepare ourselves.
My older sisiter, mom and I went tothe loon afterwards to getour eyebrows threaded and staches waxed. Talk about no pain, no gain.

My fourth uncle Offered to take my sister out on a drive, but i Was not mentioned in that invitation...how awkwar , im ony 2.5 years younger ...
He ended up leaving by himself though.

gingerbread house and icecream

Yesterday, we màde a ginger bread house. I bought it in canada just for dana!

Today I talked to nor a bit and we still didnt set up a time to hangout. How depressing.

My older sister had plans with her friend and my younger sister had plans with her friends and I....well ..not much.
When dad noticed that, he told me to get dressed to take me out. I told him I wanted icecream! I like icecream.
He agreed and we ended up going to an exhibition but it had ended and so we switched to the mall. I ate yummy shawarma at the mall and dad ordered Beryani. I shared his meal because indian food usually has so much.
Afterwards we went to basken robins where I got the icecream I wanted. When we were done eating we walked around the harbour at the back of the mall. We also had done some shopping and it seems most stores have 50% off sale. Too bad I dont really want anything.

Fought a bit today. I was messing around with dana. Mom was rude, I was rude back and older sister conveniently shoves herself and yells at me in which dana responds by yelling back at my older sis to stop picking on me. Families.....are....weird.

Maybe wasting 2000$ on this winter holiday was a just a mistake. It's only for two weeks afterall.

the perfect airport

Augh as much as I love amsterdam's airport, the internet sucks ass!
I wish all airports were as organized and well designed as the airport in amsterdam and have good enough unlimited internet like toronto's airport. I also want airports to have people as friendly as the ones in halifax.
Augh, that would be the perfect airport.
Well, there's still 3 hoursnleft before boarding and probably 20 mins of free wifi left.

12 more hours and we see the family

yet to be boarded

We've made it to Toronto. So far we are both drousy from lack of sleep but she has it worse considering that she is still sick. Shes sleeping next to me on the benches as we wait for the boarding to begin. Poor soul.

Next stop: Amsterdam!

kiss my laptop good bye

Just a brief summary of today's events before I kiss my laptop good bye.

Today I woke up at about 7:30 am to pray, get dressed and head to the dojo where I was tested for my green belt. I think I passed it. Revi gave me my christmas present as she promised. It turned out to be this cute little sweater on a hanger ornament. You can see it posted on instagram if you click the instagram button.
I also got a card from her. I had a list of things to purchase from the mall so as I left to the mall, justin decided to join me. Justin is another friend from karate. He's an indian that has previously lived in the middle east and he knows like four languages! He has something to buy from walmart, so he tagged along and we ate lunch there too.
When I went back I wrote a check to the office, in which I still don't know if it will bounce back or not I really hope not!!!!!
I then checked in, and confirmed our flight and rearranged our seats for the first flight. Augh, after blacking out for a while, my sister came from her exam and we ate.
She went to sleep cause she's sick and didn't sleep today much either and I cleaned up a bit around the house and packed my bag.
I'm tired, our flight is at 8:55 am, and there's gonna be a storm tomorrow! just my luck. I need to wake up at 5 am though!

moving disaster moments of the day:
while I was eating my lunch, the brocolli fell off my fork and bounced from my shirt to my sleeve to Justin's pants before landing on the floor. It was weird.

I also broke a plate right after I cleaned it and put it on the rack to dry. It practically jumped off that too!

Ecology grade

I got an A- in Ecology. I'm unsure if I'm happy or sad with this mark. The Death class has dropped my GPA, and although this one lifted it a bit. It would have been a better job if it had been an A+. I suppose the ecology lab is what damaged me. Damn, talk about so close, yet so far away.

So far, my cumulative GPA will not get me to med school. Then again, so far, all my gpa will not be counted towards medschool.

Peace,
Salam

End of semester!

YEÝ!!! The first semester of my second year has Finally ended!

My reaction upon submitting my final exam:

I'm so happy, i have a list of things i have to do though. Chores to do before travellig such as buying ink for the printer and cleaning the house and things to do in Kuwait (yeah im travelling again) such as build a ginger bread house with my sisters and make that video i wanted.

I'm  so happy this misery is over with.  Next semester is when the real shit starts though for it will be counted in my application towards med school. Oh, lord, please have mercy on my sister and I. I hope she finds something she loves  and enjoys doing and gets accepted in it.

Oh well!!!!
Enjoy this video on how I feel right now!!!

Peace,

Stories from Palestine

I came across this picture on facebook, and I wanted to know more about Christopher's encounters in Palestine.

this is what actually happened:
 http://www.bintjbeil.com/articles/en/011001_hedges.html
"And then, out of the dry furnace air, a disembodied voice crackles over a loudspeaker.

'Come on, dogs,' the voice booms in Arabic. 'Where are all the dogs of Khan Younis? Come! Come!'

I stand up. I walk outside the hut. The invective continues to spew: 'Son of a bitch!' 'Son of a whore!' 'Your mother's cunt!'

The boys dart in small packs up the sloping dunes to the electric fence that separates the camp from the Jewish settlement. They lob rocks toward two armored jeeps parked on top of the dune and mounted with loudspeakers. Three ambulances line the road below the dunes in anticipation of what is to come.

A percussion grenade explodes. The boys, most no more than ten or eleven years old, scatter, running clumsily across the heavy sand. They descend out of sight behind a sandbank in front of me. There are no sounds of gunfire. The soldiers shoot with silencers. The bullets from the M-16 rifles tumble end over end through the children's slight bodies. Later, in the hospital, I will see the destruction: the stomachs ripped out, the gaping holes in limbs and torsos.

Children have been shot in other conflicts I have covered—death squads gunned them down in El Salvador and Guatemala, mothers with infants were lined up and massacred in Algeria, and Serb snipers put children in their sights and watched them crumple onto the pavement in Sarajevo—but I have never before watched soldiers entice children like mice into a trap and murder them for sport."

it sounds worse than the picture. It actually explains what happened, and I'm shocked. I knew the IDFs were asshole scums, but I never thought they purposely targeted the children. How inhumane.

Here are some more stories....

"Our house in Jaffa exists," he says, offering me the paper. "I have all the documents. Two Iraqi Jewish families live there. I visited them in 1975. We had coffee. They told me they knew it was my house. They said they had left four houses in Iraq. They told me to go to Iraq and take one."

So, in here, not only do they admit to the theft of his house, but they do so over a cup of coffee! Hilarious, really.

"U.N. officials would come to my elementary school and tell us to open up our shirts," he says. "They would douse us with DDT. . . . When I saw pictures in magazines of the way other people lived I was jealous. I was especially jealous of children who could have long hair. We could not let our hair grow because of the lice."

"This is what I worked so hard to prevent," he says, his voice hoarse and low. "I took Ali with me every day to my restaurant at 6:00 in the morning on al-Bahar Street. I made him promise he would not go to the dunes to throw rocks. Yesterday he asked to go home at 3:00. He said he had to study for the makeup sessions they are holding because of all the school closings this year. A half hour after he left people came running to tell me he was shot in the leg. I ran through the streets to the hospital. They would not let me in. They said he would be discharged soon. They told me he was okay. I forced my way inside and saw him lying in the corridor dead with a bullet hole in his heart. I fainted."
A father tells the story of his murdered son.

His mother, seated next to him and wearing a black head scarf, slowly shakes her head. "He goes every day," she says softly. "I sent my older son to bring him home. And he was not home five minutes before he went back. I tell the boys it is useless, throwing stones and becoming a martyr will not make the Israelis leave. My sister has lost a son. My brother has lost a son. One of my uncles was killed and a cousin is dead. I tell them to look at the history of our struggle. All these deaths achieve nothing.

She begins to talk about the first uprising, which led to the Oslo peace agreement. Her husband, Samir, stands in a blue shirt, white pants, and sandals at the end of the bed. He was a prisoner then in Israel. One morning Israeli soldiers burst into her two-room house in the refugee camp while she was baking bread. Her son was six months old. They turned the place upside down and threw the boy on the stove. He was severely burned. As she speaks she gently places her fingers on his small arm, now hooked up to an intravenous tube."

A mother tells hers....

A doctor talks to Christopher:"Of the 1,206 killed and wounded, he says, 655 were under the age of eighteen. He cannot understand why soldiers would fire at children.

"In thirty years of practice," he says, "I have never treated a patient who died after being hit by a rock."

"He stops, the familiar thousand-yard stare of despair and incomprehension creeping across his face, the look beaten into him, beaten into his father and his father's father and, no doubt, if he has children, a look that will be beaten into them.
'Today or tomorrow,' he says. 'What does it matter when I die?'"

I have..nothing to say anymore, the rest is to you,
M.D.

Creepy Man

Waaah, the creepy bangladish guy from last year's calculus class called me today!
I totally ran away from the phone when I saw his name on the screen!!!!!

I'm such a wuss, but I can't confront my problems...I don't wanna encourage his behavior! I...he freaks me out, it's so uncomfortable talking to him!!!!

you don't understand people, he hit on me several times, and and...I'm not used to this nonsense! Like, the last conversation I had with him went like this: he talked with his friend in their own language and when his friend left, I asked him what he said. He looked me straight in the eye and told me 'he said you're the most beautiful girl he's ever seen.' What load of crap is that?!
I wear a hijab! and I didn't have any makeup on that day, and I was sitting down, and that guy was clearly talking about something bothering him, without even taking another glance at me...so I just find it disgusting that a man you're not in any relationship with would tell you such sentimental words so easily. Augh!!! and it isn't the first time!

He's like what 26? 28? And I'm only 19!!! and I ...totally cut off all ties with him ever since he started those comments like ooh you're so beautiful...and..talking bout marriage and Why do guys always talk about marriage! It's like CHILL THE FUCK OUT I'M ONLY 19!!! Even my backwards grandma doesn't pressure me  into marriage... like what the hell! Just because I don't date doesn't mean I'm gonna be in an arranged marriage..or planning on marrying you. aaah!!! and what's worse about that guy is that I genuinely thought he had a hard time adapting and I showed him the prayer room, because he asked! and I told him to stay strong and shit like that. But he kept whining bout how he misses his mommy, and I told him to chill, I'm not seeing my mom either and I'm fine with it. He also complained about how drunk girls threw themselves at him in the elevator and I stupidly believed it. Then later on, I see pictures of him on facebook with beer bottles in his dorms and with him in parties or what not. Okay maybe it wasn't beer? but seriously, i don't know. He just creeps me the shit out. Makes my tummy flip and tighten.

what do I do with this phonecall! I already ignored one of his messages this semester. I can't keep ignoring him can I? what If I run into him in school...wait..I only have an exam on Wed, then my semester is practically over! GAH! what do I do!?

So scary!

me: haha, yeah, no one ordered pizza.
him: We are standing outside with 2 medium blah blah pizzas
me: Do you even know what this address is? This is 2155....(wait..why am I telling a stranger where I live....) Well, tell me what address you're in!
him: Well, someone has to pay for it!
me: Well, it's not gonna be me! I didn't order anything!
him: You have just been pranked by blah blah
me: I hate you
him: *hangs up*
me:  lol, what just happened?

I told my sister what happened and she laughed.
sis: You made me fart!
me: I should put that on facebook.
sis: no, don't!
sis: but that's funny, you made me laugh so hard I farted!
me: *facepalms*

Quote of the Day: Quiet

me: *meows around*
       ...
       "Sis, be quiet!"

sis: I didn't do anything! ;o;

I love messing around with her.

Steam Iron

Two days ago my sister's friend's sister had dropped by to sleep over at our apartment for a period of three days. The girl had traveled to halifax in order to be interviewed for her Dentistry, you see she's already a dentist, but outside of Canada! How devastating.

Anyways, so today we are going to Corra's breakfast and Lunch to have some brunch. The food there tastes awesome but my older sister said the portions of food had decreased lately. That's not cool.

Moving disaster moment of the day:

I was ironing my sister's shirt on the steam iron and when I pulled the sleeve out to iron it the shirt fell off the hanger. I hanged little iron hose on top so I can pick up the shirt and the hose falls off. I hanged the shirt and picked up the iron and a piece of the iron broke off and fell. gah!

At least i put it back in place and didn't burn anything!

Peace,
M.D.

Fucked by Death

The professor has previously given us a paper on what to study. Words to define, and about 20 essay questions in which only 4 or 6 will come in the exam. He also said there will be 30 multiple choice questions and T or F and fill in the blanks.
About an hour or so before the exam started I noticed an email sent to all students with just the answers to the questions the professor has provided.

The professor, who I thought didn't check his emails because he doesn't have the common decency to reply to any of them, had apparently discovered this shared information.

He decided to cancel the exam and give us one sheet of paper with 4 Essay questions. We had to choose two to write about and guess what guys?

Each question was worth 50% of my Final EXAM! In other words, EACH question was worth 20% OF MY WHOLE CLASS!

So, there I sat in the class bursting in laughter of utmost disbelief. hhh is this all he's got!

Wake UP!

I tried my best to stay awake today, I didn't want to waste time sleeping because I have another exam tomorrow.  I couldn't stay awake either and ended up in a daze before my sister told me to just sleep.

I had two continuous dreams. I dreamt that my sister woke me up, and that I the girl who was supposed to come to our house has come. It was supposed to be a big feast in the dream for some reason. The girl was waltzing in just like mary poppins. It was rather peculiar. I ended up being angry at my little sister and lashing out at her for eating with my cousin without waiting for the rest.

The second dream felt more realistic. It was more or less a repeat of the first scenario. I woke up by myself and walked out of my room.  I tried to turn on the light but there was no electricity in the house. I looked over and was able to see my older sister standing next to the front door, but when i looked to my right, to the hall, there was a shadow that ran straight at me. It turned out to be my younger sister that lunged at me. She aimed for my neck forcefully rubbing and pushing my jugular in and preventing me from breathing properly. It was horribly realistic. I tried to push her away and we wrestled back into my room at the same time, the lights turned back on. I shoved her at the corner of my two mattresses and the corner hit her head. I remembered waking up to pray and I only had 5 minutes before the next prayer so I rushed to pray but as I was in my last rak'a ( cycle in the prayer), my sister's friend came and tried to shove a cookie in my mouth while I was praying. I pulled away and rejected it, but she just tried to tickle me instead. It was insane, since she's supposed to be religious! I laughed a bit in my prayer before I was done, which is not something your supposed to do, so I don't know if it got accepted. I got upset about that, and I ended up waking up for real.

I actually woke up only 3 minutes after I missed the prayer in reality. I was so upset, it's like I had a feeling. I should've prayed before I went to sleep, but I was so tired, and I thought I'll sleep for only half an hour. AUGH! this laziness will cost me.

Romi Park....AGAIN?!

Once again I've come to realize that Romi plays a role in a sick anime that I'm watching. She's voicing Suppon / Noburo from Rainbow. Even though she has like 100 different voices I still recognized a familiarity in the pitches but I didn't know it would be her! Well done!

Once again, I'm a little jealous that she participates in all of these great animations.

Oh and I have an exam in like ab hour so, bye!

Memoirs of Ridda

Okay, so this is one of those memories I never wanna forget.

I was in the biology lecture conversing with Kira and her friend, when all of a sudden a boy walks in front of the seats and kneels down before me. I stared at him confused and then he asked if I was ___ _____. Once he said my full name, I thought he was some guy I had forgotten or something. He introduced himself as Ridda and said he was in the medical society too and that he needed female members for the soccer team.

I just sat there dumbfounded as a man I haven't ever talked to before stared up at me from where he was kneeling.

AWKWARD!

But, to be honest, having a man kneel before your feet is a damn good feeling. If this was an anime, I would have been blushing. But i don't blush because it's too weird..and...I don't think i physically can.

--=--=--=--=--

Yes, I had joined the soccer team, and ever sense I have been chatting with Ridda on facebook occasionally.

For a year I tried to maintain myself so that he wouldn't end up like most guys I chat with. liking me...(ironic huh?)

I got loose though, once anime was mentioned. We both were madly in love with FMA ( I was watching brotherhood at that time though)

and Attack on Titan just came out with it's first season, so I suggested that he watchs it since I knew he'd like it.
He did, HE LOVES IT. You're welcome Ridda.

Yesterday when he asked if I was going to kuwait, I told him I am, and that I plan on eating good food and watching an anime with my sisters.

he said he'll do the same in which I replied: the otaku life.

He told me I was "pretty cool" I said he has low expectations of women, but he said not many middle eastern girls like anime ( yeah that was a big hint for me there!) lol dammit asshole, he knows how to compliment me, not by telling me I'm beautiful, but by encouraging my interests of anime and food by saying I'm cool.

little short butthead!

Today, I asked what type of anime he likes. I said "you're probably into gore and fighting because of FMA and AOT, but you also like heros and drama since you prefer the first FMA over brother hood. He was so surprised at how much I knew him. I honestly thought that was obvious.
I have told him about another anime he would love (Rainbow), but I told him that I'll tell him the name of it once he finishes his exams.

He got so furious at me. Somehow as we chatted...he asked me what my plans were after university. I thought he might be hinting at marriage so I dodged that bullet with telling him, obviously medschool. I could've been wrong because he conversed normally, but then he asked me why he doesn't see me dating. I again dodged that bullet by telling him that he should know Islam doesn't accept dating and that you don't need it for marriage. I told him that you can tell about a person without dating by simply observing them, interacting with them, looking at their appearance and the way they talk and behave and who they surround themselves with.

He asked what I thought of him.

I told him, you seem like you dated before, maybe two girls?

He was in so much shock he kept asking me how I did it, and that if I know who they were. I told him that I was good at estimation, not that I'm god!

I described some things about him and he agreed to what I said. It was funny really. I asked him to do the same to me, and he said respectable for refusing to date me. augh, won't this make it awkward? but i told him to go on and he said I was shy at first, and I told him that's wrong. I merely like to make sure who I'm talking with before I get comfortable with what I say.

hmm..perhaps I got too comfortable.

Rainbow (manga)

I don't know why but every time I finish reading a good manga I feel empty as if I have some void I need to full fill.

I suppose gamers can relate after finishing a good game, or others can relate after watching a really good series.
It's even worse when there is no closure, or no ending/ has not updated (yet).

I've recently read Rainbow and let me tell you, while it isn't sexual, it has mature content. They don't show genitals, but they do (for example) show assholes in an extremely disturbing way!

Regardless of this, It is a really good manga, but it IS NOT FULLY UPLOADED YET. It depicts the time right after the nuclear bomb hit japan. There's a lot of anger towards system, towards the Americans, and most importantly there is a lot of corruption due to poverty.

this story is about 6 boys who go to reformatory for "crimes" they have committed. Those 6 boys enter share a cell with a seventh slightly older boy( An-chan). He becomes somewhat of an idol, an older brother to them. They each have problems that resulted them in being locked up behind bars (mostly theft and violence). Those  7 boys, like the 7 colours of the rainbow, start bonding and reflecting on themselves. Only in the reformatory have they ever established the true meaning of friendship.

The problem is that the reformatory they are in has a psychopath guard that helps the pedophile doctor get "access" to the boys in the reformatory. The guard also happens to absolutely loathe An-chan and constantly try to find excuses to torment him.

Any more than that and I might give out spoilers!
Anyways, this story teaches the value of friendship, perseverance, and hope. It is a little grim because it is extremely realistic; however there are a lot of funny moments. There is rape, there is murder, there is injustice and there's A LOT of fights in the story. This is why it is mature, so don't read it if you're under 16!
Yeah, that explains why I love this manga, plus the art is magnificent and very edgy!

About the characters!

Let's start with the idol of the story. His nickname is An-chan and his first appearance was of him sitting in one of the cells reading a book without a single fuck being given. He is the typical cool guy, no...typical BADASS!. He looks cool, is very calm and collected, friendly, determined, strong and smart.

An-chan with his famous death glare

Second colour of the rainbow is a boy nicknamed Mario. Even though the story divides the focus on them equally, he shines a bit more than the rest. He seems to be the typical protagonist. A little oblivious to his surroundings, extremely honest, filled with integrity, and irrational. ( Don't worry fangirls, he get's hair once released from the reformatory)

Mario

Third colour of the rainbow: Biceps. He behaves like the ideal solider really. He is keen on looking after his body, he is also very cool, thoughtful, considerate of his actions and words and uh...Biceps is strong.

Biceps

The fourth colour of Rainbow's nickname is Baremoto. I forgot what it means, but those glasses indicate what you all assumed. He is intelligent, he's the master mind of most schemes and plans. Unlike the rest, he can be very selfish because he has a hard time trusting others.

One of my favorite colours: Joe
Joe stands out of the crowd with his blue eyes, and I timid demeanor. He seems shy and peaceful and soft, but he kicks major ass if you trouble his friends. Why else would he be in jail? He has a dumbass dream of becoming a singer though, I don't know why it bothers me. Don't worry fangirls, he too gets hair after some time.
Manga Joe
anime joe
Little twerp over here is Suppon (in the manga). He's the trickster, he's very impulsive, funny, conniving, tricky, self centered, and a compulsive liar. He can also be a big softie too, since he was the first one to act out and help another character in the story before they became friends. I would like to call him the comic relief for his blunt inappropriate outbursts that often result in him getting his ass kicked by the other colours. He does grow hair later in the manga, but never grew in height!

Mario and Suppon fighting over dumb shit again

Last and...to me the least. The gluttonous big fat softie (literally) Kabatsu. He's big in size, all he cares about is food, is extremely caring and got in the reformatory for the dumbest reason. His nickname in the manga means cauliflower "

WOAH! looking through pictures, I've just discovered that there's an ANIME RELEASE OF THIS MANGA!. Don't you just love when that happens? OH MY GOD!!!!!!! I can't wait! no, I have to wait until my exams are over! GAH! DAMMIT! I can't!

Rainbow
So far, it seems EXACTLY like the manga (something I love!) God, if it's exactly like the manga, then...the first episode will be the most disturbing first episode in all animes...followed closely by FMA!

okay...I'll only watch the first episode. and here it is! GAH! could it be anymore perfect!!!! >o<

Rainbow: Subbed episode 1: After the Rain

aww, there are some changes in the anime, very very very subtle ones like they didn't show when Joe was being examined by the doctor. They added that the sadistic guard offers that the kids beat up each other too. Still, most of the details have been there and it's still pretty epic.
Peace,
M.D.

Exhaustion

I slept for only five hours today because I stayed up all night doing my Ecology article review. I thought it was  due today because I just wasn't sure of anything anymore.
I also had to wake up at 7:10 am to pray and get ready for my Death class at 8:30. The professor handed us our term papers back, and I was so devastated by my grade. I still can't believe he gave me a 75% on it even though I worked so hard. I gave that paper a 100% on effort. the reason was because of my footnotes. He wrote and I quote "absolutely INSANE". I talked to him about it after class and he told me it didn't make sense, and that he even had a medical doctor help him read it. Why would he even say that? I was so upset that I went to the bathroom and cried. I had to pull my shit together though because I wanted to talk to my Ecology prof about the assignment. I waited half an hour before I went, hoping I didn't look like a mess when I got there, but my evolution prof (they share one office) noticed and told me if I'm okay. I told her I'm just tired because I didn't sleep well. It turns out that my ecology papers and power point are indeed due tomorrow. My ecology professor offered to postpone the due date for me. I immediately rejected and told her that I can't because I have other things due. My evolution teacher already knew of this because I have an evolution paper due on the 29th along with an exam and then two other exams the next day (one of them got rescheduled to Dec. 2nd but she doesn't know that). When I was walking out of the office, she told me that if I was tight on time then she can give me some extra time on the papers. The ecology teacher also agreed to this and offered to see a draft of my paper. I was so happy, but I told her I don't think I need it so far, but I'll let her know once I get started on the paper.

 Can they be any sweeter?
I really need to get started on the paper though. I'm still really tired even though I took a nap once I got home.
Just ...two more weeks...

Quote of the day:a love epidemic

Revi: messages me telling me she's falling for someone.
me: omg, it's funny cause the other day my other friend told me similar things about love.
her: Oh dear God! It's an epidemic!
me:I know, I might be next!
her: Run, M.D., RUN!
me: but I'm so lazy! What should I do?
her: wash your hands more? eat more garlic! wait, that's for vampires.
It's okay vampires, men....same thing!

omg...how did the topic escalate like this xD

Quote of the Day: Karate

You know you're too involved in karate when:
sis: hurry up and get dressed!
me: OSU!
.
.
.
me: what the hell did I just say?

on a side note, I got my heart palpitation in karate for like the fourth of fifth time. Even though I took permission to sit aside whenever I get it, I can't bring myself to just suddenly leave the class. It's a little awkward. That cost me an extra minute of accelerated heart beatings.

Exam Reschedual

I'll have a really fucked up week next week. I have a formal lab report, a presentation, and an article review all due on the 26th. I have an essay and my first exam on the 29th. My second and third exams are on the 30th. One of those exams I can do on either 30 or Dec 1st, but that would still leave me little time to study. I emailed the professor to just give me one more day so that I can do it on Dec 2nd and she agreed! I'm really happy about that.

Augh! I also have something due today, but I already answered 1/3 of it.

I got this really cool idea when I was answering it. Maybe I should make up a little characters on each fucked up personality that results from a fixation of the psychosexual stages. There's two anal types, two oral types, several phallic types. I think it would be a great idea, but I'm a procrastinator and I suck at organizing and suck butt at legit drawing. I can sketch beautifully though. I also want to make an AMV about a manga called A Cruel god Reigns. I really love that manga's beginning then it turns gay...literally. well, it was sorta gay to start with, but rape doesn't count, unless we're talking about the rapist. I'm screwed in the head.

Sorry guys,
M.D.

Mirai Nikki

I just finished watching Mirai Nikki (future Diary) and I must say....I should be studying now.

Uh...but I probably should write this down before I procrastinate this as much as I'm procrastinating my studies.

Mirai Nikki is an anime that makes no sense. I'm being honest here, I've kept hearing about the pink haired yandere, Yuno Gasai, and I wasn't really interested. However, after coming across the abridged series of Mirai Nikki, I felt like I should know the real thing before I spoil it on the funny one.

To say the least, it makes zero sense.
It's a game, a survival game to "gods" throne. You see, apparently "god" is dying and needs a successor, so he makes up a game that involves 12 random people where the last one standing wins his throne.
Each player gets a little diary that predicts a certain future. With that, they are able to escape, or kill, or know how to manipulate their future to survive. To win the game, you destroy the other diaries. Pretty simple really, until you notice that many people don't destroy each other when they had the chance to do it at least 10 times.

First: the protagonist. He's a 14 year old pussy, I hate using that word, but he really stayed true to the very end to the fact that he's a big wuss. I liked that at first, he made things realistic. I mean, won't you be scared if people were trying to kill you? He, however, is scared and irrational at the same time. It bothered me a bit. but what really pissed me off was that in the end, just like almost every anime, the main guy is the hero that eventually saves the day. No, I really still don't understand how in God's name he pulled it off. Like I said, it makes no sense. His diary is the random diary.
Yukki Amano
Second: The pink haired yandere that
made this anime famous. She's a stalker! Not the funny stalker you see in anime, but the stalker that you will freak about in real life. She's possessive, obsessive and insane on the inside yet holds a sweet face on the outside. That's why the word "yandere" fits her perfectly. She's also 14 and a classmate of Yukki! Her diary tells her everything Yuki is doing! Creepy? you don't know the half of it.
Second: Yuno Gasai

Third: A seriel killer. Yeah, I don't even remember him talking in the whole show. He has the assassin diary.

Third
Fourth: Detective Kuruse?  No, I'm not sure of his name, but he is the chief detective. He isn't really interested in being a "god", much like most of the people. He has the investigator diary.

Fourth

Fifth: I don't know his name either, but he's a little five year old genius that is almost as insane as Yuno! Everything he does in this show makes little sense, even for a genius. The fact that he accessed all these weapons is beyond me. He has a coloring book diary!

Fifth
Sixth: A little girl that is also the leader of a cult. She has poor vision, and has lived her entire life imprisoned in a temple as some sort of prophecy. her diary is written in a scroll.

Sixth
Seventh: are actually two people! They're lovers!
They have the exchange diaries which allows them to see each other's future.

seventh

Eighth: Not much is known about her other than she runs an orphanage. She's one of those characters that don't make sense. She's always standing with her arms spread to the sides and just....look how much she resembles the white dough boy from bakery commercials!

Eighth

ninth: one of the best characters in the show. She's a terrorist, quite literally. She goes around murdering people effortlessly and wants to become a god to make the world better. Perhaps you can say she's the anti-hero?
She has the escape diary, it tells her where she can hide and run to. She is the only realistic person in the show, yet, she had so many opportunities to kill first and second that it was just sad to watch her lose these chances.

ninth: Minene Uryuu
Tenth: A guy that was more in love with his dogs than his family. He had the breeder diary and didn't really show up much in the show. He even used his own daughter to do the killing for him.

Tenth
eleventh: one of the only guys I didn't sympathize with at all. He was the one just a little smarter than most and his diary was the all seeing or so. He actually had access to peek into other diaries!
Eleventh
Twelfth: This guy is actually one of my favorites. I don't know why his background wasn't revealed. especially since he has a strange fixation on attaining justice! His diary was a recorder because he was practically blind. He dressed up and acted based on all mighty justice and righteousness!
Twelfth: Is so FABULOUS!

Of course there are more characters such as Yukki's insane parents the "god", murmur ( "god's" servant) and amazing friends and lovers!

What's sad about this is that almost every character is fucked in the head due to some sort of childhood trauma, or seriously occurring problem. Rape, neglect, war, child abuse, abandonment. Most of them have sob stories.

That aside, here's a little funny photo that fits Yuno and Yukki's relationship pretty well:

I need to go back to studying now, pray for me,

Death

I went to the writing center at noon to work on my paper for death class. I then picked up wendeys and went home. I love their new chicken burger with pretzel baked bread. I also didn't win at the photo contest, bummer.
I've  stayed up until 3 a,m working on my death term paper. I've also started watching Mirrai Niki. I thought it would be really stupid and with the girl being insane, it turned out better than expected, though she is definitly insane!
I didn't know it was supernatural. I thought the story revolved around the yandere, yuno.

Anyways, wish me luck on my oapers,
M.D.

Second Meeting with Yumi

Hello guys, I've had my second meeting with Yumi at Wasabi House today. She said the sushi here was more expensive. Well, that makes sense considering she's from Japan. It was awkward trying to open a conversation with her today. I can't seem to think of much anymore. I talked about movies, music, studies, family, food, language, reading, future jobs and work, the weather and culture. What the heck is left?!

I also tried black sesame ice-cream for the first time in my life. It actually didn't taste so bad once you get used to the taste. It tastes like sesame at first, then looks and tastes a little like ink. After a while it started tasting like chocolate! that might be because there was chocolate syrup though.

Black sesame ice-cream with fried banana
I have 4 papers due next week. Pray for me!

Eavesdropping

I can't help but over hear the conversation of the people next to me. It's just too funny. Here is how it went:

one guy:  " I got hit on by a gay guy last night and I felt so good because gay guys know what's good! It was a confidence booster. I just didn't know what to say, so I just pointed to my friend and told him 'he's my boyfriend, sorry I'm taken' and I don't know why. I could've just told him I'm straight."

Another guy was trying to use the "I'm a foreigner so I don't know excuse" when the first guy tells him "Dude, you can't use that excuse, you were born here! you're as much of a foreigner as I am!"

I'm trying so hard to mind my own business but I can't!

I'm also meeting up with Yumi today. We're going to go to Wasabi House for sushi!

Yaoi in University

That awkward moment when there's a yaoi manga in your university library.

Yes, last time there was just a book about anime in general, but this time there were two volumes of a romance manga; Boys over Flowers, that I've never even heard of and one romance yaoi manga!

I mean, if my university was to put a manga that's fine. They should, however, put mangas that have been critiqued like Akira. If they want to put a boy love manga maybe A Cruel god Reigns in Heaven. At least that yaoi had received awards.

early snow

It snowed against  today. There were some flurries last saturday, but it snowed a bit more today and it's only mid november!
I also bought some groceries today after karate class. I got Dana a DIY gingerbread house. We will have so much fun working on it!

Vic Mignogna

The English voice actor famous for his work as Ed from Full Metal Alchamist, Tamaki from Ouran High school Host Club, and Zero from Vampire Knight.

I would personally prefer to go to a convention where Romi Park was there! I'm not that big of a fan of Vic, but after seeing him on stage I kind of am now. The inappropriate jokes he cracked, the way he made the fangirls swoon and laugh. He really gets pumped from the audience and I also respect him deeply for loving the characters he played! He actually loves them almost as much as we do! He might be the only voice actor that cosplays as his own character (Ed)! His singing voice sucks butt, but he's just a great persona.

so, one of the fan boys gives him a box and when Vic opened it he gasped and pulled out a little toy version of Ed. He then exclaimed " A lifesize Ed!" I almost died laughing.

Yes, I think you understand that I went to Hal-con today. I went with J, from karate, and Revi's friend. We went there at 9 am (when they opened) so that we won't have to wait that long before we get in like yesterday! LESSON LEARNED!

It was a little boring, I'll admit. It was a bit of a let down.Even the merchandise was a little disappointing. The cosplays were pretty good though. There weren't a lot of people who dressed up, but from those that did well, I took some pics with!

To see my awesome cosplay with other people's even greater costumes, follow me on blogspot!
If I get a follower, I will post pictures of myself and of the cosplays at the convention.

I promise you, the Alphonse cosplay I took a picture with is really good!

Also, I bought a little hanged chibi Ed as a souvenir. It's so adorable it makes me smile every time I look at him!

I also left the convention really early today, at like around 1-2 pm because my stomach was hurting really badly. I want to go to next year's convention if the same people go with me!

Please suggest anime cosplay ideas for a hijabi girl!

Moving disaster moment of the day: ran rib first into the bathroom door handle. don't ask why or how.

Peace,
M.D.
